Editorial Reviews Amazon.com Comparisons to Forrest Gump have saddled The Truman Show : the nebulously cheerful protagonist, the Tupperware set design, the Big Picture conceit. But those parallels dissolve when the soundtrack album commences. This is no brand-inducing pop-song nostalgia trip; it's an authentic document of The Truman Show 's musical imperative, a mix of percolating minimalism and sweeping orchestrations that imbue the film with its atmosphere of apocrypha and fable. Composers Burkhard Dallwitz and Philip Glass share the responsibility. Dallwitz gets the opening theme; Glass, the anthems (borrowed from previous scores) and much of the finale. One highlight is "Truman Sleeps," Glass's solo-piano on-screen cameo. The eccentric closing track, a rockabilly remake of T. This music does not have a moment when you do not feel something in the music. Because you don't really hear the music, you FEEL it. The music is emotion. You feel the power of ambition, the instability of confusion, and the bliss of happiness. I rarely buy a soundtrack just to listen to it, but I did for this one. Even if you haven't seen the movie, you still see Truman's life through the music. I found when i saw the movie that the music not only enhanced the movie, it became a part of it. I noticed the music. And for that reason I bought the soundtrack. And whenever I play it, Truman Burbank's mind comes alive once again. Was this review helpful to you? Dang this CD is good! , July 3, 1998 Reviewer: A music fan from Ann Arbor, MI The Truman Show soundtrack is intense, beautiful, and moving. I especially loved Glass's "Anthem Part 2," played in that great paranoid scene after Truman hears his car radio. The funny thing is, if you've seen the movie and read the liner notes, then you know that this music was meant to totally manipulate your emotions (the way Christof, the TV show director, manipulated his TV audience). So it was hard to listen to the album without calling to mind the TV scenes, and feeling the accompanying emotions, and then feeling just a little had.
